Alex Byrne predictably had the last word on his return to action at Shaw Lane AFC.

Byrne hit the late winner for the league leaders, who had to come from behind to win 2-1 against Kidsgrove Athletic in Barnsley.

The former Northwich Victoria attacker was the player at the centre of the recent FA Trophy debacle which led to Shaw Lane’s controversial expulsion from the competition.

Kidsgrove captain Anthony Malbon produced an unbelievable first half strike to give the visitors the lead.

The Ducks left it late as it took until the latter stages for the game to turn. In a dramatic three minutes, captain Ryan Qualter equalised before Byrne popped up with the winner.

Stocksbridge Park Steels were unable to record three consecutive victories after being held to 1-1 draw by Chasetown.

Liam McFadyen’s early header was cancelled out by a Jack Langston volley.

In the Premier Division, Frickley Athletic lost 2-0 at Spennymoor Town.
