Ash Flynn, who else, got the winner as AFC Emley came from behind to secure a very important win over title rivals Penistone Church.

The crunch fixture between the local neighbours attracted an unbelievable crowd of 418 and it did not disappoint as there were goals and red cards.

Emley’s 13th consecutive league win takes them eight points clear of Penistone having played a game extra.

Big Brett Lovell drew first blood for Penistone before tensions erupted with a mini mass brawl which ended with the dismissals of Penistone’s Ryan Johnson and Emley captain Kieran Ryan.

The game was turned on its head midway through the second half. Liam Schofield supplied the equaliser after a good run was finished off by Aaron Joseph.

With momentum definitely in Emley’s favour, young Ash Scully set up the winner with one of his first touches after coming off the bench. His flick-on found Flynn, who then opened up the space to create the magic moment.
