New Liversedge defender Jack McCarthy in action for Garforth Town Legends in a charity game earlier this season
Jack McCarthy has been promised “a fair crack of the whip” at his new club Liversedge.
The former Garforth Town defender, who can also play in midfield, signed for ‘Sedge on Thursday night after Jonathan Rimmington drove over to Rotherham to get his signature.
It is a headline capture for Rimmington, who has tracked the youngster for a long time. McCarthy has endured a difficult campaign as he had limited opportunities at Hyde United before moving to Goole AFC where he had a good run in the side for a while.
In the two previous seasons, McCarthy was a star performer for Garforth.
Rimmington told Non League Yorkshire: “I first saw him play before I took charge of the first team (at Liversedge) when he played for Garforth against Liversedge. He scored in that game and I’ve kept an eye on him ever since.
“For a young lad, he’s got a lot of ability. He’s a brilliant addition to our side.
“He’s got a great attitude and he’s level-headed. He just wants to play. I think a few clubs who have had him haven’t given him a fair crack of the whip.
“He’s going to get that with us and I think we have made another great signing following on from Nathan Keightley.”

Good signing , Jack is a cracking player , I wasn’t sure where he was playing nowadays , hope it works out
All the best young jack, been Goole’s best player in my opinion this season. Not sure who he was when he signed but his performances at centre back have been outstanding, especially in a struggling side, Great signing by Dave Anderson & developing nicely under his guidance till they replaced him. Good luck lad.
