Play-offs chasing Knaresborough Town closed the gap between them and sixth-placed Hallam to just two points.

Knaresborough had to work hard for their victory which was secured by Fraser Lancaster’s second half header.

The first half saw Rob Petch’s debut for Winterton go disastrously wrong as he was sent off following a challenge on Sam Cook. Petch had been a lively presence for Winterton.

The breakthrough for Knaresborough came on the hour mark when former Harrogate Railway midfielder Harry Brown’s cross was converted by Lancaster.
