Kamara fires Pikes into Senior Cup final

North Riding Senior Cup

Nathan Kamara was the hero for Pickering

Nathan Kamara was the hero as ten man Pickering Town booked their place in the final by memorably beating Scarborough Athletic 1-0 at Mill Lane.

The victory was also made sweeter because Scarborough fielded a strong side.

But considering captain Niall Tilsley was sent off following a challenge on Matty Turnbull in the first half, it is a great win for Pickering.

Former Selby and Garforth versatile man Kamara came on a second half substitute and he rounded Scarborough goalkeeper Tom Morgan late-on to score the winner.

Scarborough’s agony was complete in the final minute when Craig Nelthorpe saw red.

The Teams

Pickering Town: Wells, Cooper, Danby, Chips, Bissett, Tilsley (captain), Thompson, Birch, Blott, Taylor, Dale. Subs: Dalton, Robinson, Kamara, Chigumira, Ingram.

Scarborough Athletic: Morgan, Ible, Merris (captain), Bloor, Turnbull, Humble, Nelthorpe, Bolder, Hazel, Dennison, Murray. Subs: Lucid, Flint, Norburn, Robinson, Brown.

  1. Marvellous match! I was there and it was a well-contested credit for this level of football. Look out Whitby and Middlesbrough! The Pikes are coming!
