Star Stocksbridge Park Steels striker Joe Lumsden is facing a spell on the side-lines.

Lumsden sustained a knee injury very early in Stocksbridge’s 1-0 win over Romulus last night and had to go off.

Chris Hilton has since confirmed that the former Armthorpe Welfare is likely to be missing from his side in the next few weeks.

Hilton told Non League Yorkshire: “Everyone is aware that Joe has had his ACL rebuilt twice and it has been giving him some jib recently.

“We rested for a week to get him to the Romulus game, but he felt a twinge. We don’t think it is serious, but we may have to rest him for a couple of weeks so he can recover.

“He definitely won’t be playing on Saturday.

“It is a blow because he’s our top goal-scorer and we do rely on Joe for his movement.”

It leaves Hilton with a few dilemmas for Saturday’s trip to Rugby Town. Hilton could look to bring new signings in or use some of his dual-registered players which includes the likes of Curtis Gregory, Ben Rhodes and a few others.
