Denton joins Marshall’s Pickering

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Defender Sam Denton is joining Pickering Town

Double title winner Sam Denton is leaving Harrogate Railway and is joining Paul Marshall’s Pickering Town.

Denton leaves Railway after a brief stint at Station View having signed for the club from Handsworth Parramore in October.

The West Yorkshire-based defender has won the Premier Division twice – in 2013 with Scarborough Athletic before captaining Shaw Lane to glory in 2015.

He has lots of experience and has also played for the likes of Frickley Athletic, Guiseley, North Ferriby United and Farsley Celtic.

Denton is also the player at the centre of the postponed League Cup quarter-final tie between Railway and Hallam. An investigation is underway to determine whether he was cup-tied when playing for Railway in an earlier round.

If Railway get kicked out, Glasshoughton will get a League Cup reprieve, bizarrely for the second consecutive season.
