Chris Jackson has scored 14 times for Pontefract in 2017

Clinical Pontefract Collieries extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points following the 3-1 win at Westella & Willerby.

The Colls had the killer touch in the first half and could have easily scored a few more if Westella’s fantastic goalkeeper Lewis Exall had not been on top form.

Goal machine Chris Jackson, who has now scored 14 times since the turn of the year, fired Pontefract ahead from the penalty spot in the sixth minute.

Jackson then scored a magnificent goal after chesting the ball down before showing great calmness and composure when placing it past Exall.

The goal of the game belonged to Mikey Dunn, whose superb footwork enabled him to score the killer third.

Alex Wood grabbed a second half consolation for Westella, whose left-back Mike Hewitt was sent off following a second bookable offence.

The victory took Pontefract’s tally for 2017 to nine wins out of nine.

Matty Waller’s fifth minute goal earned Eccleshill United a single goal win at Winterton Rangers.

In the Premier Division, Liversedge were involved in an epic 3-3 draw at Bottesford Town.

Brandon Kane gave Liversedge an early lead before Bottesford led 2-1 by the hour mark.

Kane equalised and striker Joe Walton appeared to have won it for Sedge with ten minutes remaining. That was until a Bottesford leveller in the dying minutes.
