Bobby Johnson scored twice as Goole AFC stunned leaders Farsley Celtic

Hero Bobby Johnson breathed fresh life into Goole AFC’s survival battle with a double in the shock victory at leaders Farsley Celtic.

Farsley went top on goals difference on Saturday and the Celts must have been expecting to go three points clear of second placed Lancaster City.

However, Goole, who are now five points adrift of safety, upset the applecart and stunned the home support at Throstle Nest.

It was seemingly normal service after five minutes when Paul Walker fired Farsley ahead with a spectacular long range effort.

Goole were quickly back on level terms as Ryan Watson’s foul on Danny Chambers allowed Bobby Johnson to equalise from the penalty spot.

The glory moment came close to half-time. It was an excellent move which began with Chambers before player/joint manager Derry Robson teed up Johnson.

Farsley inevitably threw the kitchen sink at Goole, who deserve huge credit for holding on.

  1. Excellent game one of the best and bravest defensive displays I have seen for a while. Second goal great counter attacking football.

  2. Went to the game as a neutral & Goole did well to hold on & credit to them but Farsley dominated the game & how they didn’t run up a cricket score is beyond me. Off day for Farsley and If your honest more luck than a outstanding defensive play! But all the best to both teams.
