Heroic captain Steve Bromley’s header ended an eight game winless run and placed Harrogate Railway on the brink of safety.

The priceless 1-0 win over Clipstone at Station View is also a major reward for under 18s boss and interim first team manager Ray Green, who is steering Railway through one of their most testing times in their 82-year history.

It was inevitable that Bromley, who has stuck with Railway through thick and thin in the past few years and one of the few senior players left at Station View, scored the goal to effectively secure their survival.

Bromley headed home in the 47th minute to lead Railway to victory.

Liversedge were beaten 4-2 by leaders Cleethorpes Town at Clayborn. Vaughan Redford and Brandon Kane scored for ‘Sedge.

Thackley lost 1-0 at ten man Staveley Miners Welfare.
