Ben Atkinson has joined Farsley Celtic

Young Brighouse Town midfielder Ben Atkinson has joined up with his brother Chris at Farsley Celtic.

Atkinson was a star in the Brighouse team last season and he is reunited with Adam Lakeland as the pair worked together at Curzon Ashton nearly two years ago.

“Ben is a player with the type of attitude and work ethic we expect at Farsley Celtic and he is technically very capable as well so I think it’s another good addition to the group,” Lakeland told Farsley’s official website.

“I worked with him for several weeks when he came to Curzon Ashton after leaving Huddersfield and whilst you could see his potential, it was evident he needed to play regular first team football to gain experience of the men’s game.

“He got that at Brighouse where I saw him play several times and he always impressed.

“He knows that by stepping up he will have his work cut out to get into the starting eleven as we have such a strong squad, but he wanted that challenge and felt it was the right time.

“I’m certain with the environment we create and the way we will work on the training ground, that he will continue his development and push for a regular place in the team. I’m very pleased to have Ben on board.”

  1. Welcome to the Celts Ben. Another Atko brother. The side is coming together nicely now. A mix of the established players, some new boys and a couple of returning favourites. We shall just have to see what Azzer Hardy and Watto want to do.
