Striker Parkins joins up with Farsley

Luke Parkin with Farsley Celtic manager Adam Lakeland

Luke Parkin has become the second player this week to swap Brighouse Town for Farsley Celtic.

The former Leeds United youngster spent the whole of last season impressing at Brighouse. He joins up with Ben Atkinson who left Brighouse for Farsley on Monday.

Adam Lakeland said: ”Luke is a centre-forward who can operate as an out and out striker, play in the hole or wide of a three man attack so he gives us a number of options and together with James Walshaw and Adam Priestley I feel we have a good mix of attacking options which we will need for the coming season.

“Luke was released by Leeds last April after a three year professional deal, of which an additional two year deal was extended, so that in itself tells you that the lad has bundles of ability as you don’t get that amount of time at a club the size of Leeds United if you haven’t got something about you.

“The challenge we have as a Club is to get Luke’s enjoyment, enthusiasm and appetite back for the game and if we can do that I’m sure we will have acquired a very good player.

“He’s a good lad who just needs someone to believe in him and help him start developing again and I’m sure we will give him that. I’m looking forward to working with him and welcome him to the Club.”

  1. Welcome Luke, to Throstle Nest. I have a feeling you’ll get games, as even if Wally & The Priest are preferred In a 2 up front, 1 is often off playing against Germany Scotland, France etc, and the other may be suspended etc.
Wally missed 10 games suspended in 2016-17 and STILL scored 50 goals….imagine what he’d have done with those extra 10 games…!!
