Paddy Kenny signs for Maltby

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny’s career has effectively gone full circle as he has gone back to Non League and signed for Maltby Main.

Kenny started his career at Bradford (Park Avenue) in the old NPL Division One under Trevor Storton before becoming a loyal servant to Neil Warnock at Bury, United, QPR and Leeds United.

The 39-year-old has hardly played in the last three years, but friend and Maltby Main joint manager Scott Mason has lured him back to the game.

Maltby chairman Wilf Race said: “This is obviously a fantastic signing for the club and hopefully there will be more additions to our squad to enable us to get back on track after the clubs recent upheavals.

“We are several weeks behind other clubs with regards to preparation but the new management team are working tirelessly to strengthen the team.”

  1. I’ve always disliked this fella – used to boo him when he was at BPA in the last century…suppose he’s a good signing for them, mind. IF he plays much.
He is the epitome of Colin wnaker (an altered anagram of his old manager) and his style of play. Someone else I’ve never liked.
