Both Shaw Lane AFC and Stocksbridge Park Steels were beaten in their respective Evo Stik games last night.

In their first competitive match at Athersley Rec’s highly-regarded Sheerien Park, Shaw Lane lost 2-1 to Mickleover Sports.

The Ducks fell behind early on, but they got an equaliser through new man Paul Clayton.

They must have felt confident of winning as former Duck Jake Scott was sent off for a stamp on Alex Byrne.

However, despite having ten men, Mickleover won the contest through former Stocksbridge striker Brad Grayson’s goal.

In the South, Stocksbridge were beaten 3-1 at Basford United – Brodie Litchfield scored from the penalty spot for the Steels.
