Yorkshire Amateur joint manager Neil Sibson says that he has noticed that teams are “raising their games” for his side.

But he admits that he’s delighted with how his promotion-chasing side have started the season.

“Every team is going to come out and raise their games for us,” Sibson told Non League Yorkshire.

“People are putting pressure on us saying we’re title favourites so we have to be on our mettle.

“Every game is like a cup final because teams are upping their games because we have expectations.

“We have started well. We have looked on the figures for last season and it took us 19 games to get to the points we have amassed already.

“We have got that in eight games this year so we are very happy. Knaresborough are there at the top, but we’re on their tails and we’re going to keep going.

“We have a great platform to build on.”

The Ammers take a break this weekend as they have no game. Their next match is the home clash with Retford United next Saturday, seven days on from the 4-0 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare.

The Ammers were relentless in the win and the points were sown up at half-time as the Ammers led 3-0.

Sibson, Phil Harding and coaches Lebogang Ramatlotlo and Sean Ible have developed an exciting brand of football which deserves fans flocking to Bracken Edge to see mouth-watering action.

And the display at Glasshoughton was the top dollar one according to Sibson.

“It was one of our best performances of the season, especially the first half display.” he said.

“We were excellent. Everything came together. We didn’t play particularly well against Selby (in the 2-1 win) on Saturday and we spoke about that beforehand.

“We knew we had to put it right and everything just clicked. Selby was our worst performance so far. We didn’t start playing until they scored in the 80th minute. For me we only played for ten minutes.

“Everyone was working for each other and it was ten out of ten for everyone. It was a superb team performance. I was also pleased that we nullified their threats which is something we spoke about.

“It was a scary performance, some of the goals and movement for them were excellent.”
