Ross Shelton has been appointed the new permanent manager of Parkgate after a spell in caretaker charge.

Shelton initially held the fort when Graham Nicholas took a break because of work commitments in early October. He continued in the role when Nicholas resigned last week.

And Parkgate’s hierarchy have seen enough to let Shelton continue on a permanent basis.

Twenty-seven year-old Ross began his playing career at 16 with Sheffield Wednesday, and after a period at Scunthorpe, began his NCEL career at Parkgate. Spells at Garforth Town and Ossett Town preceded his return to Roundwood in 2016.

Parkgate Chairman Albert Dudill said: “We are delighted to confirm Ross as our new Manager, and are fully behind his efforts to get the team moving up the NCEL Premier Division table.

“I’d like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the Manager’s job at Green Lane, but in reality Ross was always our first choice.”
