New Scarborough signing Lewis Sugden

Scarborough Athletic are waiting to get international clearance to play new signing and former Farsley Celtic midfielder Lewis Sugden.

Sugden was a product of the Chesterfield FC Academy, joining Farsley Celtic in 2014/15 and more recently playing his football for the University of Tampa in Florida, until returning to the UK last week. Lewis, who can play anywhere in the middle of midfield, was named Young Player of the Year whilst at Farsley in 2016.

Sugden said: “I just got back from Florida last week and the manager got in touch and it’s happened really quickly. I see my time at the club as a building block for me, it’s a big club with a good infrastructure.

“I know quite a few of the players already from my time at Farsley Celtic. I’m hoping my international clearance comes through in time to play a part against Atherton Collieries tomorrow.”
