Athersley centre-back Joe Singleton’s header was decisive in the 2-1 win over Handsworth

Joe Singleton’s header proved decisive as Athersley Rec held on to secure a deserved 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Handsworth Parramore.

Perennial hero Lee Garside gave them an early lead before young starlet Singleton popped up on the half-hour mark.

Aaron Moxam brought Handsworth back to life with five minutes left and the Rec had to hold the nerve as Alex Rippon would then see a volley cannon back off-the-post.

Danny Facey hit post as Albion Sports stormed to a 6-1 win at pointless Clipstone.

Aaron Gaur and Kesiolu Omolokum also scored.

Dave Ricardo was the ghost of Christmas past at Hall Road Rangers as his Barton Town won 2-0 at Haworth Park.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare lost 5-1 at home to AFC Mansfield. Nash Connolly got Hemsworth’s goal.
