Lee Ashforth is the new manager of Ossett Town

Caretaker boss Lee Ashforth has been appointed as the new permanent manager of Ossett Town.

Former Harrogate Railway chief Ashforth replaces Grant Black, who resigned last week after nearly two years in charge at Ingfield. Ashforth has been at Ingfield for a few months after joining as Black’s assistant.

Ossett chairman James Rogers said: “Having spoken at length to Lee, as well as the existing squad, it is important for all of us that we retain stability and look to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

“We’ve had a great record for the last 18 months but seen a blip in results over the last few weeks. We believe Lee is best placed to build on the strengths we undoubtedly have as a team and take us forward.”

Keith Mackie is staying on as one of Ashforth’s assistants, but the new boss is looking to strengthen his coaching staff as Steve Ridley has decided to leave the club.
