Albion hold South Shields to a draw

Resurgent Ossett Albion showed just how far they have come after drawing with leaders South Shields after giving the title-chasers an almighty fright.

The first half saw Albion matching the league leaders for 15 minutes and scoring two goals in a minute to stun the visitors at a packed Dimple Wells. 

In the 18th minute Tom Corner fired the ball across the South Shields area and it was deflected into the net by a defender. Just a minute later Adam Priestley got the ball and ran in to beat Liam Connell in the South Shields goal to double Albion’s lead.

The visitors seemed unable to match Albion until the final minutes of the half when a good attack saw the ball go across the home goal just ahead of an opposing forward.

The second half saw a different South Shields and shortly after the restart they got a goal back, The ball was cleared by an Albion defender but only as far as Michael Richardson whose header looped over Neil Bennett in the goal. It then became one way traffic with Julio Arca running the midfield for South Shields and Albion defending manfully.

After a series of corners South Shields found the equaliser when Jon Shaw finished from close range. 

The visitors went all out for the last 20 minutes but Albion held on for a well-deserved point.
