Penistone striker Kieran Ryan did Pontefract a massive favour

Pontefract Collieries are in the driving seat for the title after rivals AFC Mansfield and Pickering Town dropped points.

The Colls need 21 points out of their last ten games to secure an unprecedented promotion to the Evo Stik. Twenty-two points will clinch the title.

But they face some tough games, notably on Saturday when they travel to Penistone Church, who stunned Pickering by scoring two quick-fire goals in the final five minutes to come from behind to draw 2-2.

Pickering were heading to a comfortable victory thanks to Ryan Blott and Joe Danby.

That was until Ash Ellis and Kieran Ryan popped for Ian Richards’ men.

Mansfield went down in style at Albion Sports. Rudy Funk’s men lost 3-0 and had two players sent off.
