Lee Thompson is the new assistant manager of Stocksbridge Park Steels

Boston United legend Lee Thompson has been promoted to assistant manager at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Thompson, who has served as first team coach for three years under Chris Hilton, will fulfil the role previously held by Ryan Laight. Former defender Laight will now hold the title of first team coach.

Thompson said: “It is a massive honour to be given the assistant manager role at such a well thought after club like Stocksbridge.

“I’ve found it really easy moving into the coaching side of football thanks to the experience helping me along the way with Chris, Ryan and Shaun (Handisides). We have had a successful couple off years and now is the time to step on and show how good we are, and really push on to achieve our end goal of promotion.

“I’m still not finished as a player and Chris knows whenever I’m needed, I’m more than willing to be there.”
