Simpson leaves Garforth for Tigers

Mark Simpson is one of Garforth Town’s all-time greatest players

Club legend Mark Simpson has left Garforth Town supporters disappointed as he has chosen to rejoin Worksop Town.

Simpson, certainly Garforth’s greatest striker of the 21st century, if not all-time, ends his third spell in East Leeds to return to Worksop who he briefly played for last season.

Simpson has enjoyed quite a love affair with Garforth since originally joining in November 2014. He made an impact then before making the mistake of moving to Ossett Town a year later. He soon returned and became a crucial part of Adrian Costello and then Rob Hunter’s team.

During his second spell, he broke a club record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches.

A move to Frickley and then Worksop came last summer, but neither move worked out and he was soon back at Garforth where he established himself as one of the best poachers in the league.

  1. I know what you mean Kev , for whatever reason when Mark has left Town previously he hasn’t had anything like the same impact anywhere else , however his goal record for Garforth has been outstanding , and he will take some replacing ,however good luck to Mark

  2. No doubt one of the best finishers at this standard when he gets the chances. But look at where most of his assists came from. You have to be supplied with the bullets to be able to fire them. Turner did the same job this season before Simmo came back. Watch the GTFC videos back again.
