Paul Clayton has stood down as the assistant manager of Knaresborough Town

Knaresborough Town have been hit by the resignation of assistant manager Paul Clayton because of work commitments.

Clayton only joined the club last summer and was at Paul Stansfield’s side as Knaresborough romped to the Division One title with 100 points.

Stansfield said: “I just want to put on record my thanks to Paul for all he has done in the last 13 months – his impact has been massive and led to us having our most successful season on record.

“Unfortunately due to work commitments he is no longer able to commit fully. From a personal perspective I will miss him as he not only a fantastic coach but a great man.

“However, we have to now move on quickly and we have done this by promoting Gregg Anderson to player / assistant manager and Colin Heath will now take on the role of player coach. Both have tremendous attributes to help guide our talented group of players to further success.”
