Mhlolo scores winner for red hot Bridge

Toolstation NCEL Division One

Shirebrook Town 1-2 Worsbrough Bridge

Fidel Mhlolo scored the winner for Worsbrough Bridge

Worsbrough Bridge continued their best start to a campaign since 2013 after coming from behind to win at Shirebrook Town.

Lee Morris’ side fell behind in the first stanza after Carter Widdowson’s fired Shirebrook ahead in the seventh minute.

Player/assistant manager David Taylor, the former Goole AFC joint boss, struck a terrifically-hit free kick to level for Bridge soon after.

Worsbrough scored the decisive goal just after the hour mark after former Nostell winger Fidel Mhlolo struck from the returning Connor Rollinson’s assist.

Worsbrough even missed a penalty which was well-saved as the game reached its journey’s end.

Worsbrough are enjoying their best run in the league since the great Chris Hilton era. Hilton’s side contained the likes of Barnsley Non League greats such as Lee Garside, Chris White, Liam McFadyen and the Showman Ryan Poskitt.

However, they never finished in the top reaches. Bridge’s current form will evoke memories of the 2001/02 season which saw them finish third and narrowly miss out of promotion to the Premier Division. Another Barnsley NL great Shane Kelsey was a nipper in that team.
