Prodigal Mark Simpson is one of Garforth Town’s all-time greatest players

Prodigal son and all-time great Mark Simpson has returned to Garforth Town for a fourth spell with the East Leeds club.

Simpson has left Worksop Town to rejoin the Miners, just a few months after leaving Garforth to move to the Tigers.

Simpson is Garforth’s record goal-scorer. He wrote his name in their history books at the end of last season.

The striker originally joined Garforth in 2014 during Graham Nicholas’ reign. He left Ossett Town with Nicholas the following year before coming back to play for Adrian Costello.

He stayed with them under current boss Rob Hunter before his prolific displays attracted Frickley Athletic and then Worksop Town in the summer of 2016.

Neither moves worked out and he spent nearly all of last season with Garforth. He’s now back ahead of the visit of Penistone Church.

  1. Simmo returns ( again ) , although we have joked about him coming back again , I really thought that we had seen the last of him , it’s not too long ago this very subject was debated on here , strikers who are as lethal as Mark are hard to come across so he can only improve the team and the squad overall

  2. Just can’t seem to get rid of him, he’s like 7-2 when playing poker.
Bet he scores against Penistone though

  3. yes he did score , i am just chuffed to see the lad back , some things in life just look right , Mark Simpson in a Garforth Town shirt is just 1 of them
