Prodigal son Priestley returns home to Garforth

Adam Priestley returns ‘home’ to Garforth. Priestley stood alongside Danny Buttle, Dan Coupland and Adam Porritt.

Garforth Town have arguably made their most headline-grabbing signing since 2012 after persuading one of their greatest strikers Adam Priestley to return to the club.

The prolific Gibraltar International striker made his name during two seasons with the Miners between 2010 and 2012 under popular former manager Steve Nichol.

Priestley was a key member of the side that secured the club’s highest ever league position in 2012. The team, which included renowned Non League players Jamie Price, Matt Dempsey, Darren Kelly, David Brown, Chris Howarth and Paul Walker, among others, is rated as one of the club’s greatest in their history.

That’s why Priestley’s return, along with the fact he’s still relatively young and still consistently scoring goals each week, will excite the club’s supporters ahead of the new season.

When the club’s troubles struck in the summer of the 2012 Priestley left along with the rest of the squad and would join Farsley Celtic.

Spells with Farsley, Alfreton Town, Guiseley, Shaw Lane and Ossett United have followed. He has now chosen to return ‘home’, which gives him the opportunity to play alongside his best friend James Beaston – the Garforth captain.

It is a massive coup for Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Garforth, who have signed a player who was scoring in the Evo Stik every week last season.

Alongside Priestley, Garforth have made several other impressive signings. Adam Porritt, the former Ossett and Farsley player has joined.

Dan Coupland, a popular former midfielder from the 2017/18 season has returned. He played for Knaresborough Town last season.

Former Bridlington Town and Handsworth Parramore winger Danny Buttle is the fourth signing.
