Frost tipped for career in coaching and management

Danny Frost helps Chris Hilton manage Stocksbridge Park Steels against Irlam in the FA Cup

Popular Stocksbridge Park Steels forward Danny Frost has been tipped for a bright future in either Non League coaching or managing.

The prolific Stocksbridge striker is currently out injured so he has been helping mentor Chris Hilton in the warm-ups and on the touchline during the BetVictor South East and FA Cup fixtures.

He has been of great assistance to Hilton as assistant manager Lee Thompson has been unavailable for the past two weeks.

“He’s done really well helping me with the warm-ups and on the side,” Hilton told Non League Yorkshire.

“Again he is another player who is missing (from the starting eleven). He’s got another few weeks before he can start running.

“Alan Smith the physio told him that he needed to rest it for three or four more weeks.

“With Tommo not available for the first few games, we’ve got him involved and he’s done really well helping me with the warm-ups and on the side.

“I think he’s very good at it and he’s got a future in coaching, he does it for a living anyway.

“He’s been good and he’s pitched in with some good ideas (in the games).

“He can work with the forwards and he has already has done in in pre-season, along with Tommo and I think that’s shown. It is an area I thought we might struggle with is scoring goals, but we’ve scored nine goals in three games.

“He’s definitely got a future as a coach. As for being a manager, he has got great contacts, but there’s a difference between a coach and a manager. Only time will tell if he goes for being a manager.”

Take out the FA Cup defeat to Irlam on Saturday, Stocksbridge have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new campaign.

The Steels, who visit Glossop North End on Bank Holiday Monday, won 4-0 at Kidsgrove Athletic on the opening weekend before beating Sheffield FC in the derby clash.

So Hilton is understandably delighted.

“It has been a very good start, better than I expected,” he said.

“I didn’t expect us to go to Kidsgrove and win 4-0. I did expect us to go there and get a result, I’ll be honest.

“The Sheffield we started sloppy and they were better than us for the first 20 minutes, but once we got to grips with it we got stronger as the game wore on and we got the win.

“Again with today’s game (against Irlam) we got stronger as the game went on so it shows that pre-season has got us fit.

“We started last season poorly. We lost 4-2 at Stamford, drew away 3-3 at Gresley in the next one and then I think we lost the next two so we’re better off on points already.

“But it is a new set of lads. Last season is last season. It is about what these lads do and there’s a togetherness and great work ethic when we have everyone available.”

Hilton confirmed that Ross Goodwin and Michael Trench are back after missing the Irlam defeat.

Kurtis Turner will return if fit. Josh Nodder, Kane Swinburn and Frost are definitely out.
