Old boys Alex Hallam and Gregg Porter came back to haunt Emley as Golcar United won 4-1 in the first ever Huddersfield derby in front of an unbelievable crowd of nearly 600 people at the Welfare Ground.

Hallam, Nathan Tayo, Porter and Frasier Beckett guided Ash Connor’s side to the tremendous North West Counties First Division North victory. Rob Bordman scored a last minute penalty for Emley.

Emley did everything, but just could not score against a Golcar team which also had other ex-Pewitts players Michael Tunnacliffe, Harry Stead and Dan Stocker in it.

Hallam’s sixth minute volley put Golcar into a great position. But Conor Glavin, Andy McManus, Bordman, Jamie Price and Jimmy Eyles all then went close for Emley.

Frustration set in and Eyles was sin-binned for ten minutes and with off-the-field, that’s when Golcar caught their hosts out again with Tayo finding the net from a corner.

Porter killed Emley off five minutes into the second half after the ball dropped kindly for him from a free kick.

Emley kept plugging away, but to no reward and Beckett got the fourth from a Golcar counter-attack.

Bordman reduced the deficit from 12 yards after Eyles had been brought down.

Shelley cruised to a 5-2 victory over Steeton. Craig Billington and Alex O’Keefe’s double put Ash Berry’s men in a commanding position after just 20 minutes. Billington’s goal came in the first minute.

Steeton also finished the first half with ten men as James Grogan was shown a second yellow card just minutes before the whistle to sound the break.

Ryan Blackburn and Tom White completed the scoring in the second half. Jayden Major got Steeton’s goals.
