Dan Williams grabbed the headlines after scoring the late winner for Garforth Town in the 2-1 FA Vase first qualifying round victory at Chester-Le-Street.

The attacker benefited from terrible marking from a Garforth corner to book Rob Hunter’s men a home tie against Sunderland Ryhope in the next round.

The Miners had taken the lead from Sean Hunter’s close range finish on the hour – a goal which was cancelled out after Jack Brown pounced to level ten minutes later.

Liam Flanagan got both goals as Christian Fox’s Selby Town won 2-0 on the artificial surface at Avro in the North West.

Two late goals turned a victory into a defeat for Campion, who cruelly lost 3-2 at Esh Winning having been on course for victory through Nathan Hunt and Omar Habeeb.

Kieran Mortimer and Devonte Morton briefly put Goole AFC ahead at Wythenshawe Town. Terry Barwick and Matty Bloor’s men went onto lose 5-2.

Khurram Shazad scored as Silsden went down 2-1 at Newton Aycliffe.
