Paddy McGuire’s Thackley sit proudly at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
Thackley overtook Grimsby Borough after beating them 2-1 at Dennyfield.
Jack Normanton was at the centre of everything for Thackley. He had already hit the post when it was his attempt which was turned in by Grimsby defender Liam Higton in the 18th.
His pace was causing real problems for Grimsby and in the second half he hit the crossbar with a header.
Finally he got his goal late-on after rounding Grimsby’s goalkeeper.
The home side had a nervy final five minutes as Grimsby pulled back through Jack Bradbury, but they held on.
Bottesford Town and Knaresborough Town finished goal-less.
Eccleshill United won 8-0 at Athersley Rec. Jonny Irving, Dominic Staunton (2), Aran Basi, Lewis Sugden, Matthew Stor and Antony Brown (2) scored.
