Knaresborough Town secured their first Toolstation NCEL Premier Division victory of the season with a surprise 4-2 success at highly-fancied Liversedge.

The result meant ‘Sedge could not return to the top of the table, and the much-heralded partnership of Joe Walton and Ollie Fearon did not get off to the best of starts.

Knaresborough flew out of the blocks, capitalising on rare poor defending from ‘Sedge. Walton scored an own goal before Colin Heath converted after Brad Walker’s attempt was saved.

The scores were level six minutes into the second half as Liam Marsden and Fearon led the fight-back for ‘Sedge.

In the end, Knaresborough nicked it. A scrambled Gregg Anderson goal from a corner got Town back in front with 19 minutes remaining,

Dan Thirkell then sealed it with an audcious free kick from his own half after seeing Liversedge’s goalkeeper off-his-line.

Will Eades’ 11th minute goal earned Maltby Main a solitary goal victory over Goole AFC.
