FA Council ratifies expunging of results

The FA

The FA Council have voted overwhelmingly to ratify the decision to wipe this season’s results from Step 3 to 7 from history.

The news is a blow to those clubs who have fought to win promotion and had hoped to carry on their bids when the UK Government lifts lockdown restrictions.

Over 150 clubs had put their name to a letter asking the FA Council not to expunge the 2019/20 results. Sides affected include Selby Town, Pontefract Collieries, Campion, Penistone Church, Yorkshire Amateur, Liversedge and Bridlington Town.

It remains unclear what the FA’s plans will be if Government restrictions remain in place until September which would mean starting a new season would be impossible.

  1. Correct decision I’m afraid. I am waiting for the same at the Celtic’s level (step 2)… the games played at these levels are so varied – 1 side has 8 games left, the side below them has 11 games left etc, you can’t just say the table stands as it is.
The world is in big trouble & the Prem lge just seem to be shrugging, ponying up a bit of cash & trying to carry on in a few wks. Not gonna happen. Not if there’s any sense involved… 20+ on each squad, manager, kit man, coaches, media, refs, how is that NOT a mass gathering (deemed illegal)?
