Ex-Rotherham player Monkhouse is new Pontefract boss

New Pontefract Collieries manager Andy Monkhouse turns away after pulling a goal back for Ossett last season against Brighouse

Former Rotherham United player Andy Monkhouse is the new manager of Pontefract Collieries.

It is the 39-year-old’s first managerial role and he replaces Craig Parry who moved to Worksop Town two weeks ago.

Monkhouse played over 400 games in the Football League for clubs such as Rotherham, Swindon Town, Hartlepool United, as well as a stint at Bristol Rovers during their solitary promotion-winning season in the Conference.

In recent years he has turned out for Ossett United and Tadcaster Albion. Monkhouse is no stranger to coaching as he has worked for Rotherham’s academy as a coach and he also holds the UEFA B Licence and is working towards his A Licence.

The make-up of Monkhouse’s coaching staff will be announced over the coming days.
