Nostell continue to unveil squad

Nostell Miners Welfare midfielder Alex Haigh

Nostell Miners Welfare manager Ian Walker has continued to unveil the club’s new-look first team squad.

The latest set of names are all from Walker’s youth teams and all have experience of men’s football.

Alex Haigh, who captained Walker’s U19s, U21s and U23s over the last few years is one of them. The midfielder has played for Nostell’s first team in the last two years.

Although powerful centre-back Spencer Smith is another U23s player, he has gained valuable experience as a regular for Robin Hood in the West Yorkshire League for the past few years.

The final two signings both played for Carlton Athletic last season – midfielder Harvey Walker and wide man Charlie Thompson.

Former Athersley Rec striker Ryan Smith is staying on the Nostell coaching staff. Smith joined Jason Dodsworth and Simon Houghton’s management team last season and Walker has decided to keep him on.

Walker previously confirmed experienced midfielder Adam Hayton as player/coach shortly after his confirmation as the club’s new manager.
