Birthday boy Josh Wicks scored the winner for Knaresborough Town

Young Josh Wicks celebrated his birthday by heading Knaresborough Town to victory in the only Toolstation NCEL Premier Division game on Wednesday night.

Wicks, who turned 19, headed home Tom Dugdale’s cross in the 15th minute of the 1-0 victory at Bottesford Town.

Paul Stansfield’s men had to grind it out, but they got the win and a first clean sheet of the campaign. Wicks also had a further chance and a penalty shout turned down.

Parkgate endured a disastrous night at Winterton Rangers as they lost 6-0 in Division One.
