Wright sets Hemsworth on way to derby day Vase win

FA Vase Round-Up (1)

Hemsworth Miners Welfare midfielder Josh Wright

Josh Wright set in-form Hemsworth Miners Welfare on their way to a 3-0 ‘home’ derby day victory over Nostell Miners Welfare in the FA Vase second qualifying round.

Wright stabbed home Layton Swaine’s to give the Wells a first half lead in the tie, played at Crofton Community Centre because of the 3G pitch installation in Fitzwilliam.

The experienced midfielder was then stretched off on the half-hour mark after going down injured.

Hemsworth wrapped up their passage into the next round by the 66th minute. Jay Davis’ cross was slotted home by Silas Valladoid Collins for the second goal.

Substitute Matty Hughes then stepped off the bench to seal it.

Charlie Baird and Danny Howes got the goals to secure Penistone Church’s place in the first round proper.

Shane Islams Deans Mussa scored a late consolation for Wythenshawe Amateur in Church’s 2-1 victory.

Silsden lost 5-3 to Guisborough Town – Khurram Shazad (2) and Joe Mitchell were on the score-sheet for Danny Forrest’s side.

Campion lost 4-0 to Sunderland Ryhope CW. Both sides were reduced to ten men after first half fisticuffs. Ben Bodie was the Campion player sent off.
