Palmer helps Wakefield win, while Dodworth score seven

Ex-Worsbrough man Dan Palmer’s goal was decisive in Wakefield AFC’s 3-2 win over Wombwell Main.

Palmer stretched Wakefield’s lead to 3-0 in the last 20 minutes to seal the ambitious club’s victory.

Bryce Orsini’s 30-yard screamer and Jack Burton’s goal from a corner put Wakefield in control at half-time. 

Ryan Wingrove scored two consolations for Wombwell late-on.

Leaders Dodworth Miners Welfare produced their most dazzling display of the campaign with the unbelievable 7-0 smashing of a decent Jubilee Sports side.

Dodworth were 2-0 in front at the break, and the pick of goals was from double-scorer Liam Owen who wowed his fan club with a spectacular acrobatic overhead kick. 

Also on the score-sheet were Danny Barlow (2), Jack Owen, Sam Severn and young Calan Rollinson who hit another beauty.

Swinton Athletic remain on the back of Dodworth as they comfortably got past Stocksbridge Park Steels reserves. Liam Flint, Enzo Guarini and Drew Sawdon scored in the 3-1 success.

Oliver Glaves was Oughtilbridge’s hero in the solitary goal win over Sheffield Town FC.

Penistone Church reserves won 3-2 at High Green Villa and North Gawber put Hepworth United to the sword in a 6-3 demolition. Luke Marsden and Carey Welford got doubles, with Callum Mackie and Jake Bedford chipping in.
