Campion recruit striker Jagger

New Campion striker Joe Jagger

Campion have pulled off a coup in recruiting Brighouse Town striker Joe Jagger.

The prolific former Harrogate Railway forward made his Campion debut in the 2-0 defeat to North Ferriby on Saturday.

Lee Ashforth and James Bicknell have long-sought the services of Jagger, who once scored 42 times in just one season for Littletown in the West Riding County Amateur League.

Jagger links up with an already fearsome front-line containing Sean Hunter, Mohammed Qasim, Aiden Kirby and several others.

“He came available to us at the back end of last week and he contacted us to say he was leaving Brighouse,” Ashforth told Non League Yorkshire.

“We said when a player of that quality comes available we can’t afford not to try and bring him in. So we did and he decided to sign for us.

“I’ve tried to sign him three times over the years and Bicknell has tried to sign him about a dozen.

“It was good to get finally over the line. I’m sure he will do well for us because he’s an NPL player at the end of the day.”
