Buxton goalkeeper Tom Taylor is to face his old club Brighouse Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday after Kendal Town were removed from the competition.

Kendal won 1-0 at Brighouse recently to progress into the third qualifying round.

The reasons are unclear, but Kendal have been expelled from the Trophy.

It is somewhat some poetic justice for Brighouse who were controversially removed from the Trophy themselves last year following their victory over Tadcaster Albion.

Former Farsley Celtic and Scarborough Athletic stopper Taylor has had two stints with Brighouse and is arguably their greatest Non League goalkeeper. He was the stopper during Brighouse’s second-place NCEL Premier Division finish to Scarborough campaign in 2013.

He then came back for the 2016/17 season which turned out to be Paul Quinn’s final year in charge.

Taylor even scored an unforgettable last minute equaliser with his head for Brighouse at Glasshoughton Welfare during his first spell.
