Skegness Town have withdrawn from the FA Vase after deciding not to travel to Stourport Swifts.
Skegness are in a Tier 3 and they do not feel it is right to make the journey into a Tier 2 area.
Their statement said: “Following discussions involving the Board, players and committee members, Skegness Town FC have unanimously agreed that in the best interests of everyone involved, we will not travel to face Stourport Swifts this coming Saturday 5th Dec in the FA Vase.
“We are fully aware of the FA guidance and Government direction regarding the current pandemic, and the fact that we are in a Tier 3 area with some of the highest levels of COVID in the country . Our own league, the NCEL has voted to remain suspended until 2021 to protect the health and welfare of all involved.
“With this in mind, we felt the correct decision was to refrain from travelling to a Tier 2 area in order to fulfil this fixture.
“This decision has not been taken lightly but, in view of the circumstances, we feel it is the only option. We therefore cede the game to Stourport and wish them the very best of luck for the remainder of the competition. We would like to thank the FA and Stourport Swifts for their understanding.
“We will make no further comment on this matter.”
