Ossett United have requested that their next three scheduled NPL Division One North West fixtures are postponed.
Ossett are one of several clubs who are taking the Northern Premier League to task over the controversial and shock decision to restart the campaign on Boxing Day.
Glossop North End, Ossett, Mossley and others insist that it is simply not financially viable to play whilst Tier 3 restrictions are in place. Clubs cannot open bars or tea bars in Tier 3 areas. Safety concerns for volunteers, spectators and players have also been raised by some.
Belper Town were the latest club this morning to call for the league to wait until January at least to restart and they said they wanted their next two matches postponed until a later date.
Ossett followed suit with an updated statement:
“Following our communication yesterday and having still not yet received any communication from the league following the Tier announcement yesterday, we believe the NPL should fall in line with the rest of the trident league and re-pause the current season.
“Therefore we would like to formally request the postponement of the following games until a later time when gates can increase or essential secondary spend is allowed.
