Goole AFC hero Joe O’Neill

Joe O’Neill was the apple in Mark Pitts and Simon Portrey’s eyes as he hit the last gasp winner for Goole AFC in the 2-1 victory over Silsden – the joint manager’s first three points since taking over.

Goole had to come from behind to claim the win as Chris Wademan low strike put Silsden ahead on the stroke of half-time.

A Josh Schofield flick-on from a free kick brought Goole level with 18 minutes to go and a draw was on the cards until the cruel finish for Silsden when O’Neill popped up.

Maltby Main mounted a late comeback to draw 3-3 and deny Thackley a memorable away day victory.

Ben Grech-Brooksbank’s double and Luke Robinson’s strike had put Thackley, who led 3-1 until the 70th minute, on course for the three points.

However, Jonathan Hill and debutant Jamie Austin rescued a draw for Maltby, whose first half goal-scorer was Bailey Hobson.

Penistone Church eased past Bottesford Town in the 4-0 win at home.

Brett Lovell, Jordan Coduri, Sam Scrivens and Kieran Turner scored.
