Pitts joins Nostell’s management team

Mark Pitts has joined Ian Walker’s Nostell Miners Welfare management team

Mark Pitts has wasted no time in returning to the Non League scene as he has joined Ian Walker’s Nostell Miners Welfare management team.

Serial winner Pitts and Simon Portrey were amazingly sacked by Goole AFC over Zoom on Bank Holiday Monday after just six games in charge and despite an upturn in form during a difficult run of fixtures.

Pitts could actually get his chance to return to Goole on Saturday if Nostell’s trip to play East Hull – who are Goole’s tenants – goes ahead.

Pitts is the perfect addition to Walker’s dugout team which includes Wayne Penny-Larter and young coach Ryan Smith, the former Athersley Rec attacker.

Nostell have a number of ex-West Yorkshire League players in their ranks and Pitts will know many of them from his days as the manager of Carlton Athletic – either from having them in his own ranks or from seeing them play for the opposition.

His record with Carlton is impregnable as he won ten trophies in five – including three West Yorkshire League Premier Division titles.

He was always bound to return to the game soon and Nostell’s scheduled game at East Hull – ironically now managed by Pitts’ former Goole first team coach Mark Maspero – could provide the chance to get back on the horse.
