No Toolstation NCEL or above players will be able to sign for clubs competing in the cup competitions planned by the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League.
The suggestion came from Dodworth Miners Welfare and North Gawber and the league “thought it was a great idea” and adopted it into their rules for the cups.
The league wants clubs to be loyal to their players who competed in the ill-fated 2020/21 campaign and not cast them aside to accommodate people who have dropped down just to get a game.
That decision is one of several that have been recently made. The league are still debating whether to reduce fees to zero for next season to ease the financial burden on clubs.
In terms of the cup competitions, the league are waiting for written permission from the FA for two drawn-up competitions – the League Cup and Brian Bradley Charity Cup.
The League Cup will see the majority of the Premier Division clubs, plus some from Division One, battle it out.
16 teams will be divided into four groups and that will lead to a quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
The draw is scheduled to take place next week.
