Maspero pens THREE-year FC Humber deal

FC Humber United manager Mark Maspero

Mark Maspero has penned a three-year deal to stay in charge of FC Humber United until 2024.

The length of the contract is extremely unheard of for Step 6 football, but shows a sign of intent from both parties towards building a very successful project in East Yorkshire.

The club are expected to be moving back to the area for next season after six months in exile in Goole and they will be changing their name from East Hull to FC Humber United.

Maspero, who took the reins literally before Christmas and did a remarkable job getting a side together for the Boxing Day clash at Winterton Rangers, told the club’s website: “I’m very excited to sign long term with FC Humber United. It’s refreshing to be involved with a forward thinking, honest club with the desire and passion to grow both the first team and the club brand.

“It’s inspiring to see the Chairman and Director of football putting in so much of their time and effort, proper blood, sweat and tears, to make this club the biggest in the region. It was an easy decision for me to make. Having the security of 3 years allows me to be able to instil my game model and a club ethos. It also allows the players to buy into what we all want to achieve. To be successful we all need that continuity.”

Chairman Richard Smales added: “Mark has really bought into what we are striving to achieve here at FC Humber United and to have someone of Mark’s coaching quality and passion to succeed is exactly what we want at the club.

“This deal offers the club stability and allows us to focus on the long-term aspirations and development on and off the pitch, whilst also knowing full well that delivery of the plan is essential to progressing the club to where we want it be.

“Furthermore, I am delighted to have Mark with us on this journey as we work diligently and plan ahead, for the start of the upcoming 2021/22 season.”
