Middleton gets Non League chance with Ponte

New Pontefract Collieries midfielder Danny Middleton

Pontefract Collieries have given midfielder Danny Middleton another chance in Non League Football.

Middleton has dabbled playing in the Non League game for the likes of Glasshoughton Welfare (2013) and Garforth Town (2018), but he only played for those clubs for a short period of time.

But he has always had the talent to step-up. He is best known for being the captain of Sherburn White Rose and for being one of the best players in the West Yorkshire League.

He has also played for local Sunday League side Ferrybridge Progressive.

Ponte have a good reputation for hidden gems from outside of the Non League game – Mikey Dunn and to a certain extent Jimmy Williams (he had previously had spells with Glasshoughton) are two examples.

Dunn had only really played for Ferrybridge before he joined Ponte in 2016.

He was then arguably their best player during the unprecedented two promotions in a row which took them from the Toolstation NCEL Division One and into the NPL.
