93rd minute equaliser denies Steeton their first win

North West Counties League Round-Up

Steeton striker Kayle Price

Steeton had their first Division One North win of the season snatched away from them as South Liverpool scored in the 93rd minute to claim a point from the pulsating 3-3 draw at Marley.

Kayle Price’s late header appeared to have won the game for Steeton who had just turned the game on its head after coming back from 2-1 down.

Alex Preston had put Steeton ahead just before half-time.

That goal was cancelled straight after the break and South Liverpool soon gained the lead.

It was substitute Andy Briggs who made a spectacular entrance to put Steeton back in control.

Briggs had only been on the pitch 60 seconds when he latched onto Ben Wignall’s flick-on to score in the 75th minute.

That paved the way for Price to score the third – but it wasn’t to be Steeton’s day for their first victory.

Ash Flynn’s 13 minute first half hat-trick was the difference in promotion-chasing Golcar United’s 4-3 defeat of Nelson.

Nelson took the lead in the fourth minute but Flynn equalised soon after his goal triggered a spree of four in those 13 minutes as Daniel Naidole also scored.

Ilkley Town are still searching for their first win as a Non League team after the 3-2 defeat at Ashton Town.

Ilkley led twice through James Hughes and Kevin Gonzalez Mele.
