Souter’s red card appeal decision looming

Red mist: Brighouse Town are waiting on the verdict of their appeal of goalkeeper Brett Souter’s red card at Pickering Town

Brighouse Town expect to hear any hour now as to whether goalkeeper Brett Souter’s controversial red card at Pickering Town has been rescinded.

Souter walked after an altercation with Pickering captain Wayne Brooksby after a penalty had been ordered to be retaken late in last week’s 2-2 draw.

The video footage exonerates Souter but the decision rests on what the FA appeals panel thinks

“It is in the appeals process and we expect it to be (rescinded),” Vill Powell told Non League Yorkshire.

“The referee has admitted the error and we have sent the footage to the FA.

“Common sense should prevail.

“I genuinely don’t see how they can’t overturn it because there’s no violent conduct offence that takes place in the video footage (of the incident).

“It has to be overturned but stranger things have happened to me as a manager so I don’t want to say it definitely will be.”
