Jake Morrison scored twice as Adam Lockwood’s Wakefield AFC enjoyed another high-scoring conquest with their 5-0 demotion of Houghton Main on Wednesday night.

Wakefield, whose side contained new signings Morgan Butcher, Cain Tailford and goalkeeper James Leverton, raced into a 4-0 half-time lead.

Substitute Butcher is an impressive capture for Wakefield as he signed for Brighouse Town in the summer after a good spell with Paddy McGuire’s Thackley in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.

Mason Ruble got the night underway for Wakefield before ex-Glasshoughton Welfare player Danny Youel doubled the lead.

A Morrison long range stunner was the third goal.

Owen Kirman finished the first half off after a long run forward before scoring.

Another blast from distance from Morrison in the second half completed the triumph.

Lewis Twibell’s goal was the difference as Stocksbridge Park Steels reserves continued their positive start to the campaign with a 1-0 defeat of Hepworth United.

Penistone Church Reserves have recorded two wins from two after the 2-0 victory over Sheffield Town FC at home.
